Why Pilgrimage?

I was always looking for an idea or a fix - something or someone with ‘the answers’. And yet my own path showed me that ‘the person’ or ‘the answers’ were rarely what they were cracked up to be. Sure, lots of things helped - a lot - But I still had to make my own way with a lot of bravery, intuition, trial and error and experiment.

This is where pilgrimage came in - yes, there’s a route, Yes, there’s - usually - a destination, but how you walk the path is up to you. This resonated with me so strongly, that even though I had never so much as had a whisker of a thought of doing a pilgrimage previously, I really felt this had to be our raison d’être.

When we came up with a single word to describe our business and what we are about, ‘pilgrimage’ immediately came forward. And for me it was the only word. And this has been the basis for setting up our ‘Freedom Path’, even our whole business, the idea that you, the pilgrim, are in charge.

You put your boots on, walk out the door, even decide on the route. There is no single A to B. Each person’s journey, even travelling along the same road, will be unique. We each have our own thoughts and ideas, sensibilities and preferences, likes or dislikes, strengths, passions, parameters, likeable and less likeable sides. All of these confirm us as a unique individual - the you, the I - and for that reason, no one person can tell us the right way, the absolute fix, guaranteed 10-step programme to enlightenment, or whatever it happens to be.

We make our own journey.
